No. We always tell our clients to just skip that offer, along with their
pitch for an SAN.

You can get excellent bar codes for $10 from Bar Code Graphics
<http://www.createbarcodes.com>, among others. I'm sure you'll get
suggestions for free ones from others on this list. For that measly $10,
I like dealing with BCG and knowing I'll get one that always works fine.

You did not say who's doing your book cover, but most cover designers
provide the bar code as part of the cover design. I know we always do.
