I disagree. I'm telling them not to be willfully ignorant.
Now, once you know what the choices are, and what they imply, then
you can make conscious choices. Losing money deliberately can be very
virtuous. Losing money because you don't know any better isn't, it's
letting yourself be ripped off.
I never have understood why people would choose to be victims.
NB: I spend 25 to 50% of my work hours doing volunteer work. I most
definitely "get" giving back.
