Hi all,
It finally cleared up on a night I didn't have some family or work thing
going on, yippee! And very fortunately there happened to be an eclipse
of the moon also going on! Unfortunately when it's clear in February
around here it gets a bit cold, but not too bad tonight only about -18C
without the wind chill. So I dragged out an AS-GT mount I had in the
basement, tapped some holes into the tube of the 120mm achromatic
refractor sitting in it's saddle, and bolted on the SCT-tube rings with
the new AT66ED gotten from the contest (thanks again Astronomics, Rod M.
and the company of Frank's). This way I had a mean looking triple
barreled assembly (including 9x50 finder) with all possible
magnification levels ready to go. I setup the scope at a local mall (in
front of a Chapters bookstore!) with some other mildly insane to be out
in the cold fellow astronomers, and we showed the passing public the
Moon and Saturn, was a blast. Even got a few snaps of the Moon at mid
eclipse with the "family" camera (Rebel XT) thru the AT66, see here:

EB
